Totally rad

Today I finally updated my iTunes to the latest version. I usually avoid the x.1s and x.3s and wait for a full new x.0 version to come out. Today was the day for me.

I was half-watching the little tutorial about the new features when something caught my eye. It was a little icon of a radio tower. And you know what? I don't think it's new. It just caught my eye and I randomly decided to click on it.

That click opened up a world of internet radio stations. Fun! I mean, I know I could have been listening to radio online anyway through my regular browser, but I never think of it. And there's that annoying tab and the constant updating that comes with some online radio. But with iTunes I can minimize the window and have it playing in the background.

And the stations are sorted by music style for me. I was torn -- so many options -- but eventually chose an '80s station. I have tons of music on my iTunes, but things sometimes get old. So this is something fresh and new (but old and nostalgic at the same time).

I had been enjoying it pleasantly for an hour or so until... "Ohhhhhh AWESOME!" The Pointer Sisters' "Neutron Dance" played. Now I'm not pleasantly enjoying it; I'm totally rocking out. I haven't heard this song in years. My day has just been made.

I'm just burnin', doin' the Neutron Dance!

Wait. Oh my gosh. Wait. Now they're playing Don Henley, "All She Wants to Do is Dance."

Is this heaven?
No, it's iTunes '80s radio.

Now, I didn't know about all this x.1 and full x.o differences. I just followed itunes blindly. or ignored it blindly - whichever I felt like on that particular day.

80s! Yay! I hear INXS at the grocery store today. also awesome

Well, I'm no expert, but I assume that the .1s and .2 (i.e version 8.1, 8.2) just have tweaks. Then the next full release (9.0) has new features. So if I'm not experiencing any bugs I usually don't bother with all the little updates in between. I'm not patient enough.

They played INXS right after I posted that blog yesterday. So cool. I found that they had a Cuban station listed, too, but it didn't seem to be working.

Thanks for commenting, a.
